The Roots of KaFDA
Sierra Leone faces a persistent challenge: more than half of our population lacks access to sufficient, nutritious food. In rural communities like Kpetewoma Lugbu, Bo District, this crisis is deepened by poor infrastructure, outdated tools, and the lasting effects of war and climate change. KaFDA was founded in response to this urgent need. Inspired by the leadership of Munda Z. Kamara (M.Z. Kay), a native of Kpetewoma and development professional, we launched on February 14, 2024, to restore life and dignity to neglected farmland and empower youth through agriculture.
Our name honors the historic cocoa-producing farm settlement of Kakaluihun, once destroyed during the civil war—now revived with purpose, pride, and the power of farming. We are located in Kpetewoma village, Lugbu Chiefdom, about 25 miles away from Bo.
KaFDA is a Community-Based Organization (CBO), registered with the Bo District Council, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS).
